(AP) — Lefty Driesell, the Hall of Fame coach whose folksy drawl belied a fiery on-court demeanor that put Maryland on the college basketball map and enabled him to rebuild several struggling programs, died Saturday. Driesell was inducted into the College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2007, but his entry into the Naismith shrine proved more elusive. He went 9-14 in his debut, one of only two times over an entire season in which he would finish with a losing record as a college coach. Congratulations.”After leaving Maryland, Driesell was hired in 1988 by James Madison, a small Virginia school that finished 10-18 in 1987. I figured it out pretty quickly.”___AP college basketball: https://apnews.com/hub/ap-top-25-college-basketball-poll and https://apnews.com/hub/college-basketball

Elon Musk's Boring Company launched a $100 perfume called "Burnt Hair" in October. Last October, he added "perfume salesman" to his list when he began selling a scent called "Burnt Hair" to the world. The unisex fragrance is sold through The Boring Company, where it was originally listed for $100. Upon sniffing Burnt Hair directly from the bottle he concluded that it actually smelled better than most perfumes. "It's pretty gross…It does smell like burnt hair."

That's worrying concert venues that depend on alcohol sales for their profits, Billboard reported. "Bar sales are important for every music venue, but especially for smaller ones," a talent agent told the magazine. That's because alcohol sales help keep the lights on at clubs around the country. David Slutes, who runs a venue called Club Congress in Tuscon, Arizona, said that he'd noticed alcohol sales had dropped up to 25% when booking shows for a Gen Z-focused crowd. Some venues told the magazine they're experimenting with renting out their facilities for more private events to make up for lost revenue.

A California law would set a sliding scale for electricity bills based on a household's income. It doesn't totally take out of the equation how much power each household uses: Part of each bill will still be based on that. But each bill also will have "fixed charges" that will be set based on income. Cities like Los Angeles need to build out their electric system to deal with increased demand. "This makes it cheaper to use electricity to operate electric cars or appliances," the NRDC argues — something that could become key in stoking demand for EVs.

Bill Gates said the winner in AI will be the company that creates a personal digital agent. Gates added that it's 50-50 as to whether the AI winner behind the digital agent will come from Big Tech or the startup world. The startup was founded by LinkedIn cofounder Reid Hoffman, Deepmind cofounder Mustafa Suleyman, and Karén Simonyan, and describes itself as an "AI studio creating a personal AI for everyone." And Pi is still a ways away from what Bill Gates is imagining, a personal AI that can do your shopping and help read your emails. But Pi is the best conversational AI I've used so far, and everyone I've spoken to who has used it has been impressed.
